Omnigraffle
What is it? Omnigraffle is a drawing, organizing, collaboration and prototyping tool. It is aimed at visual communication and features vector graphics, an image library, timeline, drawing tools and capabilities for generating prototypes.
How to install and use it? First, you need to download the Omnigraffle software from the website and install it. The software is portable and can be run from any storage device. You can also run it from a thumb drive, external hard drive or USB flash stick.
You can also add in-image tools like drop shadows, gradient filters, and more. The most obvious way to quickly add a gradient filter or drop shadow is to use the adjustments layer and the Filter ▶ Adjustments panel, but doing so works quickly on the layer. By default, when you create a layer, only stamp or raster adjustments are available for adjustments. If you prefer the opposite approach, you can click and hold on the stamp to add fine-tuned adjustments for that layer.
The Adjustments panel has also been improved. The recently added Indigo Color Engine addresses the color accuracy of natural colors with accuracy that is solely representative of the hardware used. The new Noise Reduction and Image Denoise feature in the Noise panel for which I am particularly proud now has a looser detection setting. The sharpening controls have also been improved for better control and more control over the sharpening, just as with Lightroom 6.
What is the key difference between the new software and previous versions, and how does it affect me? The new version is much more streamlined and easy to use. With the new Export and Save for Web panels, there are excellent new features. They both have an easy-to-use, action-triggered approach. These new panels make the export and save process easier than ever. The Export panel now has a section for exporting a large/small Preview. There are no longer separate Sections for JPEG, TIFF, or PNG on the left of the Export panel.
Additionally, for those who would rather not have the document contained in an XML file, the Save Panel now offers an additional option called Save for the Web. If you are looking to share a document in the Cloud, there is a section that offers you multiple options to choose from. You simply press a button to export as a single Web gallery, Community gallery, or ZIP file. You can even choose to print, export as a JPEG or TIFF, or export for a preview. There is a multitude of options to choose from and subsequently customize to suit your needs. This new capability is great.
Working with color is really one of the best parts of Photoshop. Simply going from basic fill and line work to designing a brand is extremely intuitive, but without a few of these other features, you aren’t really going to get the most out of your designs. The transparency and opacity features are the most useful for making sure your designs are consistent when scaling up or down and creating guides or accurate layers for your design.
Markup is basically, well, markup and you’ll want to use it to make sure that your web designs are consistent. HTML for example, defines a structure of the content for a page, and by manipulating these tags, you can easily adapt any theme.
With the same amount of actual work as a simple fill and line will take, you’ll be able to build up layers and containers for your content. You can easily add a background, a header, and a footer to your design with this. This goes for any content. It doesn’t matter if it’s an image, an icon, or anything else.
What It Does: Using criteria including brightness, contrast, and saturation, the Adjustment Brush changes the light in your subject. The option to duplicate and rotate the adjustment you create will give you all the control you need.
Color the cans using your Adjustment Brush, and you’ll get a custom color for them, which will let you move around your image with more confidence. The Graduated Filter helps you refine an image that might otherwise look too bright or too dull by adjusting the color’s hue. You can also add a vignette if you’d like to make your image look less “wide-angle.”
